Part 7: William Tijou Jr (1838 - 1901)

Marriage to Louisa Newman

William Tijou Jr was the fourth child of William Tijou Sr and Elizabeth Hampshire. He was born 03 May 1838 and married Louisa Newman at St Paul's, Bermondsey 28 July 1857. They had eight children: William, Morriss, James, George, Ellen, Charles, Alfred and Richard.

It is not certain what William Jr's occupation was. In the 1871 census he is listed as 'cabmaker' and in 1891 as 'general labourer'. (To date no record appears of him in the 1881 census.) The family lived in Southwark for many years in the parish of St George-the-Martyr and then moved to Battersea in the nearby Borough of Wandsworth by 1891. Louise died in 1890 but three of his sons, James, Alfred and Charles (all milkmen) continued to live with their father. William died in Camberwell in 1901. [1]
